hello from HK

Been back in HK for a week or so now. Yuppers, I'm back at the office. For some odd reason it feels longer than a week. I think it's cuz it's been raining like cats n' dogs almost every day since I arrived. Makes me feel like I'm still in rainy manchester - days are longer.

So for those of you who duno, I am spending this summer in Asia. I received my pre-arrival package for the intensive mandarin language course I'm going to take. Woot! Yes, I have been accepted to study from end of June to end of Aug in Beijing. It should be quite interesting, especially since vipster told me she had a great time there before (minus the squatting toilets). I just hafta remember to bring lots of mosquito repellent. It's soooo mosquito-ey there! I'm starting to feel excited to go. I wasn't so keen on going before just cuz it's China. I'm not so comfortable travelling by myself there. Send me anywhere else and I'd be happy to go solo. On the positive side of things, I get to travel around in China on the weekends. My dad is veeeeeeeery encouraging of that which is good. A lot of family friends have given me suggestions on places to visit since I like the cultural - non-touristy stuff a lot. Hopefully I'll be able to access blogger in China and update you guys on the going-ons. However, knowing how sporadic internet connection to certain websites are, I might only be able to check hotmail.

On another note, if I haven't mentioned it before, my cuz is graduating from UT this year from Commerce!! Woot!! Congrats Kev!! I'm so proud of you!! You'll hate working in Sept, but enjoy your last free summer!
