weekend up-date...

I noticed on my last blog that I forgot to mention if I pushed or tripped any kid into the pool. The answer to that is no. Unfortunately, the tables were set a distance away from the pool so that no kid would fall in while they were running around with their annoying lanterns. If there was a kid by the pool when I was taking pics by the pool, I so woulda tripped them. Mwahaha. I know, I'm mean.
Friday was supposed to be a day off for everyone from work to celebrate mid-autumn festival, but my sis and I ended up going back to the office after lunch to work. Poo. I forgot what we did after work.
But Saturday, I slept in till 12.30 without knowing it. I was just so tired. I think that is the latest I've slept in till since I came to HK. If my sis didn't call me I wouldn't have woken up. We ended up spending Sat afternoon purchasing a table from IKEA and a printer. We had to run home afterwards cuz we were meeting up with some ppl for someone's b-day. We had a great din din at a very very very good Italian restaurant. The food was EXCELLENT! The pastas were great and so were the antipasta and risotto. We ordered a lot of food and everyone had a portion to eat of each dish. They made the b-day girl this huuuuuuge tiramisu cake that was so delicious, but we were too full to finish the cake. All in all, I'd highly recommend this restaurant, it's just as good (if not better) than Trastevere in Toronto. Great food, great wine.
We headed to Lux after din din for, I guess what they call, "the regular b-day drinks/clubbing." Lux is a new bar/club in LKF. I met a lot of ppl that nite, some I met last year, and some new. I had phun. We didn't have too much to drink. Ppl took turns buying rounds of shots for everyone to celebrate with the b-day girl. I think I had 5 shots and a really strong whisky sour that evening. It wasn't too much considering it was spanning 5 hours or so. Anyhoos, I guess it's phun to go clubbing once in a million years, but I still dun like going. I had to practically drag my sis out of the place to get her to leave. She promised me 1 o'clock, and we didnt' leave till 2.30. All in all, I dun think I'll be going clubbing anytime soon, unless I need to go crazy or something. Blah, I think last nite did me good. I was able to vent my frustrations by dancing with some friends.
Many ppl I talked to last nite kept reassuring me that many of them came here to work temporarily and that everyone feels the same way I do. They all don't like working here, but hey, give it a little time and it'll be okay. They figure they'll work here until whenever, but would never settle down here. All of them seem to like their respective homelands (either Vancouver or Toronto.)
I guess the drinking from last nite is a perfect example that as much as u may want to forget all your worries/unhappiness/stress, etc etc, it's not a solution to it. For yes, you could be as wild as you want to be to relieve yourself of whatever is bothering you that nite, but it comes right back the next day. Today, my sis and I had the regular dim sum lunch with the family. Let's just say, it wasn't the best lunch. Tears were shed and stress was doubled if not quadrupled. Blah.
Being up at my sis's place this weekend was good. When I'm not in direct contact with my fam, it's all good. Once I'm back at my mum's place, I become a total grump. I don't say much, it's odd. But, I just...everything just seems to rub me the wrong way. How is it that I can get along with my dad in Toronto just fine, and be so opposite here? I guess I thought I had better control with my "in one ear, out the other" tactic. Oh well. Let's just hope I don't totally lose my mind here in HK.
I'm trying to keep myself busy, so this week, I'm going to go to my classes in the morning and go to the office in the afternoon to work. Then I'll come home to tutor my lil cousins and then have my own tutor come to tutor me in mandarin. Packed eh? It'll keep my mind off thigns for awhile. At least till the weekend.
Sorrie about the long blog guys. I'll try not to blab so much next time.
