enuuuuf alreeeeaady!!!

everywhere i turn there seems to be some advertising for valentine's day. it's not that i don't like valentine's day, i guess it's just not as important as it used to be. i'm starting to really think that it's just a day that the shopping industry made to earn some extra money. i do understand that any girl would want to receive flowers and chocolate on this special day, but just think, if this holiday were really important (like christmas) wouldn't we get the day off? i dont' know, i'm starting to feel that valentine's day is beginning to sink to the level of special days like grandparent's day, or some other day that nobody really remembers.
it's just that when i go to school there are signs everywhere saying, "happy valentine's day" and when i get home and roam on the internet there are a million gazillion ads for valentine's day. it's like they're rubbing it in. i don't feel very valentiney this year. my friends asked me to go out on friday nite, just a girls nite out, which i think would be really great. i haven't been out with them in awhile, but i had asked to stay clear of luvey duvey areas. i'm not really up for seeing luvey duvey couples enjoy their evening with ooey gooey talk and smooches over wine. i don't mind seeing that, just not on valentine's day. if i was going out for a luvey duvey nite out, then i might not mind as much, but i don't have someone to go out with, so valentine's day is not for me. ppl seem to be a thousand times more cheesy on this day.
i guess that maybe i'm a bit bitter. i sort of wish we still had that thing back in primary school where you made envlopes and stuck them behind your chair to receive valentine's. back then, it really felt like a holiday. there would be a set time where everyone would be out of their seats putting valetine's in everyones little self-made envelopes. that was the time when ppl u had a crush on could receive a special valentine from u (although i don't think ppl were at that stage of liking the opposite sex yet, u just had to give everyone in the class a valentine). after that, it would be time for everyone to dump out their valentine's to read and ofcourse eat. after that, i remember our teacher letting us have a short little party where we would share chips and other junk food that ppl brought from home. now THAT was valentine's day. innocent, sweet and phun.
maybe friday nite i shall do that, have a little party, with lots of chocolate. snuggle up with my girlfriends to watch a dvd-rip of chicago. nice. i shall turn valentine's day into a slightly older version of the primary school party (though ofcourse, the giggling will still be there). for those of u who are going to enjoy a luvey duvey nite out. have phun and don't be too mooshy with ur other half. for the others who aren't spending the evening with their other half, eat lots of chocolate, it does wonderful things in lifting ur spirit up or u can come join us girls in our giggly nite out.
mmm....chocolate...just like last nite, i shall be stuffing my face with them on friday.
